General Purpose/Summary of Job

The Tax Manager is responsible for reviewing and preparing tax returns for REITs, Taxable REIT subsidiaries, and partnerships.  Additionally, the position requires the supervision and review of tax accountants responsible for preparing tax returns; reconciliation of cash distributions made to partners; review of fixed assets and depreciation records; review state allocations; preparation of tax projections; coordination with transfer agent regarding non-resident partner state withholding; preparation of REIT Income and Asset Tests.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and prepare tax returns for REITs, Taxable REIT Subsidiaries and Partnerships
  • Supervise and review of tax accountants responsible for preparing tax returns
  • Reconciliation of cash distributions made to Vornado Realty L.P. partners
  • Review of divisional taxable income
  • Review of fixed assets and tax depreciation
  • Review Vornado Realty L.P. state allocations (Three Factor Apportionment)
  • Coordinate with transfer agent regarding non-resident partner state withholding
  • Prepare tax projections for REITs and Taxable REIT subsidiaries
  • Research of tax issues/ maintenance of tax notice log
  • Preparation of REIT Income and Asset Tests.

Qualifications

  • Must be well-informed regarding REIT compliance and tax law
  • Must maintain awareness of latest tax law changes

 

Education/Experience:

 

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Accounting
