General Purpose/Summary of Job

The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing assistance to the Vice President and Controller – Alexander’s, Inc. and the Vornado SEC Reporting Group, directly and indirectly to their staff by lending general support to the groups. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and coordinating the Quarterly Audit Committee mailing packages and the Monthly Management reporting process
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and general book keeping of cash transactions
  • Type of memorandums and ad hoc financial reports and schedules
  • Schedule meetings and coordinate department lunches
  • Answer phones for all SVPs / VPs in the SEC department
  • Coordinate and prepare overnight and certified mailings
  • Copying and filing
  • Special projects as needed


  • Good typing skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Reliable, dependable, flexible, and versatile.
  • Must possess positive interpersonal skills and be able to communicate well and in a positive manner to customers, employees, visitors, and vendors at all times.
  • Ability to multi-task while still exhibiting good judgment and poise in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality.
  • Excellent verbal and listening skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.



  • High School diploma or equivalent required. College degree is a plus.
  • Two years similar experience
